GreenCon Hackathon 2025

GreenCon Hackathon 2025: Tech for the Ummah

Alhamdulillah! For the first time, Greentech Apps Foundation hosted a national-level hackathon in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Unlike previous years, which were internal and smaller in scale, this year’s event brought together bright minds from across Bangladesh to showcase technology-driven solutions for the Muslim Ummah.

The theme for 2025 was “Tech for the Ummah”, reflecting our commitment to developing practical, impactful solutions for Muslim communities in need, especially during crises.

A Milestone Event

This year marked a significant milestone for Greencon. Previously, the hackathon was conducted internally, giving participants a platform within the organization to innovate. This year, we went live on a national scale, inviting teams from across Bangladesh to participate and compete.

Out of 42 participating teams, 10 were selected to present their final solutions. Their ideas mainly focused on security, disaster management, and healthcare solutions for the Ummah during critical times.

The two-day event was held at the MEC Convention Center in Mirpur, Dhaka, on 3–4 July 2025.

Judges

We were honoured to have distinguished judges evaluating the final presentations:

  • M. Mahbubur Rahman – CTO, iViveLabs
  • Modasser Billah – Backend Lead, Doist
  • Abdullah Anwar – SVP, Pathao

Their insights and guidance helped the teams refine their solutions and align them with real-world applicability.

Projects

Ten innovative teams showcased their final outputs, addressing critical challenges faced by the Ummah.

Team 1: Team Durniban (2nd Runner Up)

Participants:

  • Eusha Abdullah (Team Lead)
  • Timam Bin Saif Tahmid
Greencon hackathon 2025 dhaka team 1

Description:

With nearly 2 billion Muslims globally, we have the numbers but lack unified values and conscious habits to create real impact. We want to build a values-driven lifestyle app that helps users to live ethically, mindfully, and in alignment with spiritual and social justice principles.

By promoting halal consumption, conscious tech use, and alternative ecosystems, the app will help passively reduce reliance on oppressive systems, especially those linked to Zionist-backed industry.

Team 2: Code4Ummah

Participants:

  • Saiful Islam Nirob (Team Lead)
  • Shahriar Hossain Rimon
  • Md Rumayun Masru Tamal
Greencon hackathon 2025 dhaka team 2

Description:

SilentAlert is a silent emergency alert system to discreetly notify trusted contacts or responders during danger, even without internet—via web or SMS, with GPS, safe codes, and a response dashboard.

It to make SilentAlert open-source and easily customizable, so grassroots teams and responders worldwide can deploy it in their local contexts with minimal setup.

Team 3: Team Buraq

Participants:

  • Safius Sifat (Team Lead)
  • Md Morakib Hossen
  • Kaif Ahmed Khan
Greencon hackathon 2025 dhaka team 3

Description:

Aman” is a family reunification platform for refugees. Users can register using a selfie, a 20-second voice recording, and basic personal information. The system extracts facial embeddings and voiceprints, converts them into hashes using FaceNet and speaker embedding models, and then applies a matching algorithm to compare new entries against the database.

This process helps identify potential family links based on biometric and semantic similarity. Users have the option to approve or decline suggested matches. The platform also supports voice input and multiple languages.

Team 4: Anilon

Participants:

  • Sazidul Islam Hira (Team Lead)
  • Chowdhury Md. Asiful Mostafa
  • Syed Jawad Bin Azam
Greencon hackathon 2025 dhaka team 4

Description:

A mobile app for conflict zones (Gaza/Sudan) to share verified safety/aid info in real-time. Tech: Flutter, Node.js, Firebase, Mapbox.

Key Features:

Crowdsourced reports (safe zones/aid/attacks) + AI/admin validation.

Real-time crisis map (🟢safe/🟠aid/🔴attacks).

Offline mode (Bluetooth/Wi-Fi sharing).

SOS alerts + responder coordination.

Impact: Fights misinformation, saves lives during blackouts.

Team 5: DIU Crisis Coders

Participants:

  • Md Wahid (Team Lead)
  • Tanvir Islam
  • Zarir Islam
Greencon hackathon 2025 dhaka team 5

Description:

ReliefLink is an offline-first platform that helps NGOs, volunteers, and civilians coordinate aid during disasters when networks fail. Using Bluetooth/Wi-Fi mesh, it enables emergency alerts, resource requests, and task updates.

A local server node syncs data via SMS, and a cloud dashboard helps NGOs manage logistics. With multilingual support (e.g., Bengali, English), it ensures an inclusive, resilient crisis response.

Team 6: Vision Safe

Participants:

  • Ibrahim Refat (Team Lead)
  • Md Emon Mia

Project Description:

Defining and demonstrating a new, feasible message encryption/auth protocol

The OTPs sent through SMS are basically open, interceptable, yet widely used, which is a heavy security risk. Our aim is to demonstrate a feasible, minimal yet strong solution to this issue.

Solution Idea:

– A local encryption/decryption service provider (Must be Open Source & 3rd Party)

– Protocol definition

Team 7: TeleShifa (Champion)

Participants:

  • Yeasin Ahmed (Team Lead)
  • Md Rojon Ali
  • Md Tahuruzzoha Tuhin
Greencon hackathon 2025 dhaka team 7

Description:

TeleShifa is a low-bandwidth, offline-first telemedicine platform that connects crisis-affected individuals with global doctors via SMS, USSD, and a lightweight app.

It provides emergency triage, AI-assisted diagnostics, mental health support, and localised medical guidance—empowering displaced and underserved communities with life-saving care, even without reliable internet.

Team 8: TeMSid

Participants:

  • Ishtiaque Ahmed Sayef
  • Saifur Rahman Tamim
  • Hafez MD Habibur Rahman Bhuiyan
Greencon hackathon 2025 dhaka team 8

Description:

This project is a lightweight, privacy-first platform designed to help Muslims in crisis zones stay informed, safe, and socially connected—whether or not they have internet access. It delivers verified news, emergency alerts, and secure identity sharing.

Offline data synchronisation occurs via QR, Bluetooth, or Wi-Fi Direct, while online mode enables real-time updates. All data remains encrypted and stored locally. The system leverages IPFS and Handshake domains as resilient backups to ensure access even under censorship or network disruption.

Team 9: NoSignalLab (1st Runner Up)

Participants:

  • Roman Raihan (Team Lead)
  • Md. Minhajul Haque
  • Md Abdullah Al Mahadi Apurbo
Greencon hackathon 2025 dhaka team 9

Description:

This project is an offline-first crisis communication system for Muslim communities during emergencies like war, disasters, or internet blackouts. Using mesh (Bridgefy), LoRa, drones, and local ISPs, our app turns smartphones into resilient communication nodes.

It intelligently routes messages using existing infrastructure—like in Bangladesh’s 2024 blackout. The system focuses on two core objectives:

1. Reliable connection (mesh, LoRa, Starlink)
2. A unified emergency interface.

Team 10: Bitfix

Participants:

  • Khalid Masum (Team Lead)
  • Shams Salmoon
Greencon hackathon 2025 dhaka team 10
