So, after cleansing your sins, it’s important to maintain spirituality. It’s true that we’ll do sins but shouldn’t do such activities that will tarnish our Iman. So, we should learn how to maintain spirituality and remain sinless after the hajj. Here, we’ll give you some tips that you help you live a sacred life after Hajj insha-Allah.

Tips to Maintain Spirituality after Returning from Hajj

The Hajj pilgrimage is significant for Muslims to enhance Iman. After returning from Hajj, it’s also important to maintain its spirit to get the reward of Hajj. Let’s know what to do after Hajj to hold its spirit.

a) Make Dua to be Steadfast

The main thing is to pray and ask Allah for mercy, so you can stay on the right path. Dua is an effective way in this regard,

i) Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’Ala teaches us Dua in the holy Quran, for protection from deviation from guidance-

Transliteration: Rabbana la tuzigh quloobana ba’da idh hadaytana wa hab lana milladunka rahmah innaka antal Wahhab

Meaning: Our Lord, let not our hearts deviate after You have guided us and grant us from Yourself mercy. Indeed, You are the Bestower.

Transliteration: Rabbana innaka jamiAAu annasiliyawmin la rayba feehi inna Allaha layukhlifu almeeAAad

Meaning: Our Lord, surely You will gather the people for a Day about which there is no doubt. Indeed, Allah does not fail in His promise.” [Sura Al-Imran, 3: 8-9]

ii) Another dua is mentioned in the hadith,

يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِي عَلَى دِينِك

Transliteration: Ya muqallibal-qulub, thabbit qalbi ‘ala deenik.

Meaning: O You Who changes the hearts, make my heart firm on Your religion. [Jami at-Tirmidhi]

b) Embrace Taqwa

Taqwa is a great virtue that means ‘Fear to Allah’ in simple words. Always fear Allah and keep in mind that Allah will ask everything you do. So, do what Allah has ordained you to do and avoid what He has forbidden you to do. If you can embrace Taqwa, you can follow Allah’s commands easily.

Taqwa also helps you make a good relationship with Allah. If you have Taqwa, Allah will guide you to be steadfast in His path.

c) Keep Good Company

Staying with the righteous people will help you to be righteous. On the other hand, if you spend time with bad people, you will feel the dips of Iman. Thus, you should stay with righteous people, such as scholars and practicing Muslims, so that your Iman gets refreshed.

Keeping yourself connected with good people not only gives benefits in the world but also in the hereafter too, as mentioned in the hadith.

Abu Musa al-Ashari (RA) “Whoever a person loves (in this world) will be his companion (in the Hereafter).” [Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim]

d) Maintain Consistent Worship

After completing the Hajj pilgrimage, it is essential to maintain a strong connection with Allah. Perform each obligatory prayer in Jam’ah (congregation). Besides this, perform voluntary worship such as night prayers, recite the Quran, make dua and Dhikr, give charity, be good to others, etc. After doing hajj, it’ll be easier for you if you try sincerely.

e) Seek Knowledge and Understanding

Acquiring knowledge about Islam is a lifelong pursuit. After Hajj, continue learning about the teachings of the Quran, Hadith, and the life of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and his companions (RA). This knowledge will empower you to make informed decisions and protect you from sinful acts.

Allah says in the Quran,

إِنَّمَا يَخْشَى ٱللَّهَ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ ٱلْعُلَمَـٰٓؤُ

“In fact, only those among His servants who possess knowledge fear Allah”. [Sura Fatir, 35: 28]

Islamic knowledge will help you attain a good foundation in Islam. However, you may face some challenges while learning; in that case, get in touch with your local Sheikhs (scholars) to resolve these.

Conclusion

Completing the Hajj pilgrimage is a great blessing. But maintaining holiness and sinlessness after the Hajj ends is important. Making dua, attaining Taqwa, staying with righteous people, doing consistent worship, and seeking knowledge are some of the good ways to be steadfast. May Allah bless and guide us on the path of righteousness. Ameen.
